BT SERVICE INFORMATION ?

Hi twice today, after connecting to the internet have I had the msg

SERVICE INFORMATION
Close Window

You have been connected to this page due to one of the following reasons. You must now shut down your browser and Internet applications before attempting to reconnect.

1. The BTWholesale access circuit to your Service Provider is currently down.
Your service should be resumed soon.
Or
2. You are testing your local connection to BT using
‘bt_test_user@startup_domain’
Or
3. You are testing your connection to your Service Provider using ‘bt_test_user@domain’ where domain is your Service Provider domain name.
Or
4. Your Service Provider is currently unable to accept your connection request please wait until service is restored or contact your Service Provider for further information.
Or
5. You have attempted to access an invalid Service Provider domain.

What is the reason for this ?

Anything I need to do ?

Thx

BT SERVICE INFORMATION ?

This was occurring earlier in the week for some users and was perhaps down to this

Quote
The following DNS servers are currently failing DNS lookups intermittently:

212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50

This may result in errors when accessing websites and other services.

The problem is being investigated by our engineers, and appears to be a recurrance of the same problem experienced yesterday, which was solved within a few minutes by a reboot. We will perform further investigation as to the cause of this problem during the afternoon.

We expect this to be resolved in the next few minutes, in the mean time however, customers should find that manually specifying the following DNS server addresses will work-around the problem:

212.159.6.9
212.159.6.10

This was posted on service status but I thought it had been fixed. Maybe not.

Manually assigning your dns to the ones immediately above may cure this.

Hope this helps.

If all is ok now it may have just been a glitch.

Manually assigning dns depends on what equipment you are using ie usb modem or router etc.

If all is ok now then let it ride. If it persists post back and some of the forum members will keep you right.

BT SERVICE INFORMATION ?

Usually, reconnecting works. If not instantly, disconnect, leave for an hour and then reconnect. Wipes out any stale connections at exchange level.

...frequently from a PC at home on the network (but NOT from a Mac on the same local network/router/connection) between around 21-25th Feb. Seems to have stopped now.
