BT Checker

The BT Broaqdband checker states that "... it is possible for you to receive BT Broadband or the even faster option of BT Broadband 1Mb. " I tried to get 1MB, but was told that line loss at 47dB is too high. So does the BT checker just check whether the exchange is enabled and throw in the the bit about being able to get 1MB for good measure?

BT Checker

The initial BT checker results are only based on line distance records so if you are within 3.5Km of your exchange it will tell that you may be able to receive 1Mb or faster.

Oh well, looks like 1MB is out of the question because of my line loss.

BT Checker

The checker is only a guide. It always depends on a line test as to whether you can have broadband and if so what speed is available. The checker for me said I could not have broadband as I was too fare away from the exchange, and yes I have had 512K ADSL for over 2 years.

Even if it says no, it is always worth applying so a line test confirms if you can or not, I'm sure a lot of people have seen the checker say no and they have just accepted it.
