I am being packet attacked and scanned:

my firewall is basic and dosent log IP's - can plusnet help with logs etc?

Do you know what ports you are being scanner on?

What ADSL hardware are you using?

if you mean your routers firewall then theres away around that if you have 2 or pc's and a software firewall.

1. Install the software firewall on one pc on your lan, which will require a manual IP not from the DCHP. Make sure its fully secure and set to log everything.

2. make sure that pc has no File/print sharing with any other pc's on your lan, be it shared folders, network logins, VPN, VNC etc

3. then on your router set the DMZ to that pc's IP and the software firewall will log everything required.

Give that 10 mins to log, but if your pc starts doing things it shouldn't pull the Cat5 cable from its lan card. Then have a look at the logs.

i would download and install the free version of the Zone Alarm firewall.

This has IP logging and other good features.
Also, check for viruses. Check for malware using Adaware or Spybot, you may have given your IP away to a software scanner.
