Anyone know how to check router MTU settings?

Hi,

I have a USR 9105 router and want to check and possibly change the MTU settings. Anyone know how?

Cheers

Anyone know how to check router MTU settings?

Hello,

From what I can find, you cannot manually set the MTU on that router. I found :-
The MTU i believe is set automatically and besides, if you use PPPoA then you shouldn't set the MTU to 1500 (which is LAN specific). The usual MTU for PPPoA is 1492 (not even 1496).

You can change it,

The article you want is here CLI Settings

here is the commands that you need, extracted from this link

Quote

IFCONFIG

NAME

ifconfig – configure a network interface

SYNOPSIS

ifconfig [interface] ifconfig interface [aftype] options | address ...

mtu N

This parameter sets the Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU) of an interface.

Personally I'd try a lower MTU e.g 1478

Hi,

I don't totally know, because I don't have that model of router, however I know it can be done.

The router this is for, has a command line entry window/option and you can enter the commands in there.
