RE: Anyone else noticed the poor DSL this evening

I too have unfortunately been experiencing some truly awful ping times today while playing on quake3 servers, in some cases jumping to well over 400. In addition my ping times in general have been degrading over the last fortnight or so, which bares an uncanny resemblance to the nasty time we ADSL users had on the overloaded pipe. It may or may not be the same thing again, but it does appear to have similar symptoms.

At least you arent the only one, i suppose :}

Thanks

I to have beem experiencing the awful lagtimes on games, Dungeon Siege in particular as i run a server, but everyone who connects to me are reporting awful lag similar to what occurred 2 weeks ago.

Its become unplayable and i cant play on other peoples server cause the lag comes with me.

Yeh, there have been a few 'brown-outs' in my xDSL this weekend. ping stats from my Winbox 21:05 Sun28Jul2002:
C:\WINDOWS>ping -t -l 38 212.159.1.114
<SNIP></SNIP>
Ping statistics for 212.159.1.114:
Packets: Sent = 99, Received = 93, Lost = 6 (6% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 23ms, Maximum = 361ms, Average = 74ms

Same here, deteriorating response times over the last few weeks.

RE: Anyone else noticed the poor DSL this evening

The problem disappeared at about ten oclock. Don't know if that is when people normally go to bed, or whether they flicked a switch somewhere in Sheffield or London.

Anyway, I am extremely concerned!

RE: Anyone else noticed the poor DSL this evening

yep....i'm have been experiencing really slow page loading.
late evenings and it seems to get better. even the ping on q3 gets better after 12 at night. so i believe its really reflecting the number of users.
weird that as they said the pipe has a lot of space.
my mates on piex and eclipse are flying and are laughing at my reports to them Sad keep saying i should have taken their advice...lol
not even a month and never a straight 5 days of continuous service without probs. if this really is BT then its time plusnet sued for the loss or project loss of faith and business thats gonna result from this. its quite unacceptable really.
i wonder if its their way of convincing ppl to go with openwoes eh.

RE: Anyone else noticed the poor DSL this evening

Nope, haven't noticed "Poor DSL" - because I've had NO DSL! No connection possible from 8:20pm to 10:20pm. Have now given up and am sending this via old LineOne dial up connection (which seems as fast as DSL has been of late!)

RE: Anyone else noticed the poor DSL this evening

My mistake apparently i have signed up to DDSL instead of ADSL, this new technology Dodgy DSL puts you light years..............behind everyone else.

As youve guessed it, another bad night of laggy DSL and no games of Dungeon Siege.

So they bring on another pipe then what happens when it reaches 55% capacity and BT equipment begins to fail its hardly a great long term solution.
So all users see is another month of speedy DSL before it all begins again.

I assume this BT Home Gateway equipment is supplied to other ISP's so how do they cope?
