Any1 else sudenly getting low speeds?

I've been getting 0.9mb down and 0.2 up on my 8mb connection for the last day or two. Anyone else suffering?
Is there a fault or something?

please don't cross post. It makes it difficult to follow if there are two threads in different places on the same subject.

Any1 else sudenly getting low speeds?

My connection has been very slow recently. I think I was transfered to DSLMax a couple of months ago (how do I check this?) but for this month my connection has been extremely slow.

Here are the speedtest results to prove it:
Date Speed Achieved (kbps)
21-10-2006 20:01:17 52.2
21-10-2006 10:39:03 137.6
12-08-2006 21:39:38 3799
14-05-2006 19:13:34 388
14-05-2006 18:58:14 181.1
14-05-2006 18:57:16 199.5

Anyone got any ideas - this is becoming very worrying.

Thanks a bunch John! You caught me in mid post on the other topic and it's harder to keep the thread of things now! :roll:

@machina777

Can you let me know precisely which modem you have-- I understand from previous posts it is possibly a USR9000, if you could confirm this or let me know otherwise and also let me know what your exact operating system is (ie Windows 98, ME, XP Home or Pro-- I assume it's not Linux or OS X) I'll try to find out how to get your stats out of the little devil! Unfortunately US Robotics aren't very helpful in their online information!

Had to buy another modem, now I got Zoom adsl PCI modem.
I have XP Pro. But a sudden decrease that I got, can't see that it's anything I got that's wrong.

Do you know what model number that PCI modem has, most of the present ADSL modems are external?

Edit: Actually I suspect it might be 5506 and if so you probably need to go (from the Desktop) to Start | Programs | Zoom PCI ADSL | Control Panel and hopefully the relevent information should be available when you click on the Connection tab <crosses fingers>

Just found this-- I hope it helps

Double-click on the Zoom PCI ADSL icon in control panel and hit Alt+p and all will be revealed....(it's not documented in the manual, but the modem is a conexant accessrunner).

Ahh, thanks found it, I had to do alt+a fisrt, then alt+p.
I don't know what I'm looking for, but, Here's somethings;

noise margin: up(doesnt change) +23.0dB -- down(goes up & down) appx. +40dB

attenuation: up +15.0dB -- down +26.6dB
bits per frame: up 176 -- down 2568

CRC errors: up 1 -- down 0
HEC errors: up 0 -- down 0

maximum TxPSD: -38 dBm/Hz
Startup attempts: 1

Is that really 40 db noise margin down-- that's huge! :shock:

Is that at a synch speed of about 1 Mbps-- what does it say on the Control Panel (Zoom PCI ADSL WAN Adaptor) page for Receive and Transmit Rates? If that's really true you should get close to the maximum on ADSL2+ never mind MaxDSL!

It's what the software shows, it alternates with about 2 dB either side.
