Annoying lag at night time

I've never really had any problems with plusnet at all but the last two evenings its been like this

Pinging portal.plus.net [212.159.8.137] with 32 bytes of dat

What could be causing this kind of lag?
It only seems to happen after about 7p.m.

what would cause that initial timeout?? Am I usin the wrong dns?

I have had exactly the same thing - have raised a ticket and am awaiting a response.

Looks like they are replacing some of the cards in it tonight - so hopefully things will be better tomorrow.
