Advice on setup of Modem and separate router

Hi

I am in the middle of transfering from NTL to plusnet. My line is due to be activated Friday.
My current setup has a Buffalo Wireless router coming out of an NTL Set top box (STB). I have a D-Link DSL300T ADSL modem with ethernet out for the new line.

What I was planning to do was to set up the adsl modem with the config info (username/password and MTU settings etc) then plugging in to the adsl socket, connecting up my Buffalo router to the Dlink modem and requesting a WANside IP as if it were a cable modem. Does this sound right or does anyone have a similar experience that would suggest otherwise?

Thanks in advance for any help

I have the 300g+ and a linksys wireless router.

Just plug the modem into the adsl activated phone point, connect the modem to the router with cat5 cable and connect your computers to the router. the modem will establish the inet connection and anyone connected to the router has access to the inet. Expect the router provides dhcp service so you get ip from it internally. It is very easy to setup.
