I have been informed by a collegue that AOL are blocking Plusnet IP addresses. Does anyone know if this is true. If so has anyone been able to have the IP address unblocked/removed from AOL server(s) :?:

In what matter are they blocking these ip addresses?

The block you talk of relates to e-mail only.

If you send e-mail to AOL using a server you host on your computer, it will fail. Only mail sent via the +Net smarthost will be allowed through.

This is AOLs proactive approach to cutting down spam, by trying to hold an ISP responsible should bulks come through.

I very much doubt you will get AOL to reverse there dicision. I am currently 7 months in talks with them regarding mail that vanishes when sending to there server through an authorised host.

They can take upto 5 weeks to reply to messages, and that is usualy to say somthing that is leter proven false.

Thanks for the quick reply. It makes perfect sense now.

Isn't this the firm that refused to accept subscriptions from anyone living in or around Scunthorpe?
