ALCATEL USB Modem won't connect to plus

I need help. I have just moved to Plusnet from Pipex and my broadband was activated today. (I got an email telling me th line is activated)
I use an ALCATEL Speedtouch USB modem and it worked perfectly for me when I was with pipex.
But now it won't connect, it tells me No dialing tone.
What do I need to do?

Line activation and account activation are two separate things.
have you had the email from PlusNet saying yiur account is activated Huh
Still, if your line is activated you should still get sync with the exchange and be able to connect to the BT test domain.

username = bt_test@startup_domain
password = (ignored)

or, PlusNet test

Username = bt_test_user@plusdsl.net or @plus.net
Password = (ignored)

No dialling tone? Are you sure you are not trying to use a 56k modem, rather than the ADSL modem?

Incidently, after about 30 minutes of your first failure, I believe the PN system should activate your accunt (or you can phone the helpline)
