ADSL providers-rate and compare

This may be of interest, if only to rate plusnet:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isprate.asp

This may be of interest to see how plusnet compares against other providers:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isp_compare.asp

I thought visiting those too pages would be a bit of fun, but unfortunately found the compare area depressing as it just confirms all that I have read on these forums lately, plusnet is certainly far from best........

From the six that I chose to compare with it is not bad at all and bare in mind that the ratings are just for Speed Reliability and Customer support.
They do not take into account the price and the services available at Plusnet.
Overall I think that Plusnet give damn good value for money?

Everyones entitled to their opinion and I would be first to give praise where+when due, but if plusnet was giving its customers satisfaction in regards "Speed Reliability and Customer support", why so many complaints in this and previous two pages of postings?

Are you an ADSL user John?

If so you must be one of the [few] lucky ones. I switched from dial-up to ADSL just over a month ago, and ever since, in my eyes PlusNet have gone down an exponentially steep hill with customer service, connection speed and reliablilty.

Two months ago, I would have had nothing but praise for them. Credit where credit is due? Fine but no credit is due on their ADSL services. They are simply abysmal. Blame who you like PlusNet, but the situation just doesn't improve. Keep my fingers crossed that this post makes it before packet loss eats it up...

Yes I went to ADSL before the price cuts and surfing, downloads etc were fantastic. I have to agree that it is not as good now but this must be due to the massive increase in ADSL users and I am sure that not all the blame can be down to Plusnet.
There was the short period when the "Traffic management" had to be brought in but once the new "Fat Pipe" was installed it all started to fly again.
I do suspect that the system is nearing congestion again at some periods but more capacity is due to be added soon so as long as Plus can keep up with the traffiic demands then speed etc should be Ok.
I still maintain though that pound for pound the ADSL service is vastly better value than my old dial up.

RE: ADSL providers-rate and compare

I have been with Plusnet about a year now, and i cant fault their customer service its the best ive ever seen better even than some corporate internal "help desks"

But on speed and reliability thats a different issue it has over the last 3 month been, well "non existent" is the polite phrase i would use. Some customers will use more colourful descriptive phrases Smiley

Which are just as apt!

I will be checking out other ADSL providers as I have decided that Plusnet have one more chance to sort it out but if it goes pear shaped again annual contract or not im moving to someone who can provide me with speed and reliability.

RE: ADSL providers-rate and compare

I think that 'normally' the service is pretty good, the down side is support waiting times, I agree that when you do get hold of someone they do know their stuff, the problem is getting them in the first place. I have found that the quickest way to get a response it to post it in the Discussion Forums, however I would rather not have to do this.

The support statistics are just not worth having, you can be on hold on the phones and they say something completely different, and I am not the first one to say that. it is infuriating!!

I hope they fix this soon as +net are getting a lot of bad press and I know they claim that the problem is not theirs this time, however +net are the providers not BT, something they keep missing, users don’t care about your suppliers problems.
