ADSL Upload Speed

Hi

I hope somebody can help me with this one... My ADSL was migrated to PlusNet this morning and I'm connecting at 1mb fine. The only problem is my upload speeds - they're terrible.

This is a speedtest done at 06:39 this morning on my PlusNet connection:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=7e7774021047e81b9077e777402

And I did this speedtest at work on a 1mb BT Openworld line at 09:33, using the same laptop:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=b17812181047f20c678b1781218

Both ADSL lines are 1mb and both connect into a router. The only difference is the BT one is 20:1 and the PlusNet 50:1 contention.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

ADSL Upload Speed

Both on the same exchange?

Check your exchange status at http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges?

Also, do you have any Line Attenuation (Loss) or SNR Ratio (Noise Margin) figures?

ADSL Upload Speed

Hi

They are on different exchanges:

Plus Net Connection:
Broughton - MRBRO
VP: Green
Port: Green

BT Openworld Connection:
Alderley Edge - MRALD
VP: Green
Port: Green
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 19.9 20.0 dB
Line Attenuation 50.7 29.0 dB

I will supply stats for my Plus Net connection tonight as I cannot access the router remotely (I really should sort that out!!)

Thanks

I've just run another speed test at 3.3KBs upload.

Does anybody know how to get the line stats out of a Belkin wireless router, as I can't find them anywhere!

Thanks

I have just tried FTPing a file to a server based in the states... CoreFTP was quoting a transfer rate of 17KB/s

Is this normal?

The ADSL Guide speed test is now showing 30.4KB/sec!!!

I spoke to the CSC who could see a lot of packet loss after I disabled Zone Labs and my routers firewall. After a bit of playing around, I added 192.168.2.* as a trusted network in Zone Labs and the speed suddenly picked up!

I'm now a very happy Plus Net customer!!!
