Websites that should be blocked

Having made a determined effort to evade the filters I succeeded. In my opinion the following URL should be blocked as erotic but wasn't:
http://www dot taschen dot com/ pages/en/catalogue/sex/all/04408/facts.the_new_erotic_photography.htm

Re: Websites that should be blocked

Aladdin Response
The eSafe URL DB is based on IBM-ISS containing over 95 million sites.
Up to 100,000 new or revised entries are included in daily updates using Smart auto-classification algorithms. Only 1% of the entries are being manually classified. Manual classification is done if the categorization is not definite or if there is a dispute about the classification of a URL.
As of today you have the following option for checking the url classification and sending a request for update.
Go to the following link:http://www.aladdin.com/support/esafe.aspx and click on the "Checking the Classification of an URL" button.
You will receive a page displaying the current classification, and allowing you to request an update for the specific URL.
In the near future we will be releasing an eSafe agent that will allow subscribers to create their own black and white lists as well,in addition to the auto classification done at the eSafe boxes.
Cheers,

Thanks for your response. I have used the link to check and suggest an update for this URL.
I've incorporated information about use of this link in the FAQs.

Re: Websites that should be blocked

I received the following email yesterday morning …
Quote
Dear User,
This is an automatically generated message to inform you that your request on http://filterdb.iss.net/urlcheck/url-report.asp has been processed. If you did not make a request on our web form please ignore this email.
Depending on which webfilter or mailfilter product is used and how its update-cycle is configured, changes of the categorization will become effective on your side with a delay of usually a few hours.
Your suggestion was adopted partially. The URL
www.taschen[.]com/pages/en/catalogue/sex/all/04408/facts.the_new_erotic_photography.htm
you have requested is categorized now as:
Erotic / Sex
Literature / Books
Shopping
Details on the definitions of the categorizations can be found on http://www-935.ibm.com/services/us/index.wss/detail/iss/a1029077?cntxt=a1027244.
Best Regards,
Quality Assurance C-Force Filterlist
IBM Internet Security Systems
url-report@iss.net

… and when I checked the classification later, using the Aladdin checker, those 3 categories were shown. However the page never became blocked through the PlusNet filter. When I checked the classification today it had reverted to just the latter two classifications. Does that imply reporting sites is likely to be a waste of time?

Re: Websites that should be blocked

Hi David,
Checked this today and its blocked.
The URL http://www.taschen.com/pages/en/catalogue/sex/all/04408/facts.the_new_erotic_photography.htm was blocked, it is in the Restricted Erotic / Sex category.

Re: Websites that should be blocked

Hi Asa,
Yes, it certainly is now.
I noticed the email I quoted was referred to as an 'automatically generated message'; does the added - removed - added cycle I encountered imply the first 'added' is automatic, then the entry is 'removed' while a human reviews the URL and if satisfied 'adds' it permanently?
Also how often does the database on the PlusNet filter get updated?

Moderator's note:
I've moved the posts originally here to a new topic "Checking Aladdin works on Malware Safe profile". The emphasis for those posts is a little different from that of the present topic and in my view is worth a separate heading.
