Access to Software download sites

Hi,
I am currently on the malware profile and when trying to access the following sites to download games I get the e-safe blocked content warning.
http://b.trymedia.com/b/vivendi/60m_d/vivendi_pro/FEARPerseusMandate
http://b.trymedia.com/b/vivendi/bnd_c/vivendi_pro/FEAREXPoint
Checking the url on the aladdin site indicates esafe classify the site as "Software / Hardware / Distributors" which seems correct but gives no indication of a specific threat from these sites.
Can anyone else access the sites or is it a case of there being something nasty on the site that they arent telling me about!
Cheers.

Re: Access to Software download sites

On Family Safe, which covers Malware Safe and much more, I get as far as a purchase page where I've to enter personal and credit card details. Did you get that far?

Re: Access to Software download sites

I used the links you'd posted so didn't visit a "main site". The page that actually loads for me is shown in the attached image.

Re: Access to Software download sites

I'm also on the Malware profile and got the same results as squeekykilt - very odd?

Re: Access to Software download sites

Hi,
thanks for the replies. I will try to go to the download pages direct from the links i posted instead of via the main site (whatisfear.com) in case the suspected 'malware' lies somewhere in the links between the two pages.
Will report back once i've tried that.
Thanks.

Re: Access to Software download sites

Hi,

The site trymedia.com contains many Trojans and Spyware and was found to be engaged with spyware activity.
Once the server will be found clean it will be removed from our automated lists.
Best Regards

I do not doubt that this is true Asa.  But why does the URL checker report the site as "Software / Hardware / Distributors"  and not report on their Status as a suspected Malware site? And why is David on the 'Family' profile able to access the site?
Clearly there is some confusion in the system somewhere?

Re: Access to Software download sites

With my profile I got to the same purchase page via the main site. Had to temporarily allow pop-ups (in IE7) but that should be a local not network (Aladdin box) issue.

Hi
As explained before eSafe is using more then one method in order to detect and strip/block access to web sites.
Currently the URL checker provides only the "URL Filter" results and is not bind to other product features.
In David's pic i see that the link it's https not http.
can you send me the link you say is allowed
Thanks
Asa

Re: Access to Software download sites

I've sent a PM to Aladdin showing the relevant http and https (redirected) URLs. The http link is the first one in the original post. The https link reached by redirection is a very long one containing computer-related information. I turned off BB code encoding to stop the filter abbreviating the links.

Re: Access to Software download sites

The reason I can access the dodgy site turns out to be a simple one - my connection no longer goes through the Aladdin box. So my result is a false alarm.  Embarrassed
Thanks to Aladdin for suggesting I check my routing. Roll eyes
However, since I haven't asked to be taken off the trial, nor for my profile to be changed, I need to follow this up with Plusnet.

Re: Access to Software download sites

Hi,
Thanks everyone looks like I've opened up a can of worms. In hindsight I probably wont bother even trying to access the site but at least we may all learn something more about aladdin in the process.

That's what trials are all about - finding most of the little devils before the product is released to the masses?
