Quick FTP of Joomla 1.5.7

Has anyone succeeded in FTP'ing Joomla CMS onto the Plesk Trial? I'm currently uploading to the httpdocs directory using Dreamweaver but it's so long winded and laborious I could be waiting hours.
On the old ccgi you could telnet the tar file to the directory and un tar on the server, whoosh done. But this is not possible with plesk on Plus net sadly.
Being a bit of a newbie with the trial so probably be seeing more of me in the next few days (so take cover!!)
Once I catch up with technology, it jumps up with a new lease of life leaving me wheezing to catch my breath. Crazy

Re: Quick FTP of Joomla 1.5.7

Finally got all the files for joomla into httpdocs in a sub directory and now the system has pointed my domain at plesk typing the domain/subdirectory in the browser I can start to set up joomla. Where it asks for hostname usually 'localhost' what do I put? I've tried all sorts. STOP PRESS:::: AH FOUND IT ELSWHERE ON THIS FORUM BUT STILL NO SUCCESS The rest (db name etc) I think I have correct so host name should be all I need.
One other thing
Can I put all the joomla files straight into httpdocs or otherwise can I redirect the domain to the sub directory. Just crossed my mind, will Joomla work in httpsdocs directory?
Apologies for what might appear obvious to some but I'm starting out fresh with plesk and it's a whole new world for me.
Incidentally, FTP of Joomla takes ages and ages and several cups of coffee to upload.
From my ageing memory I think there are something in the region of 3000+files to upload. Crazy

Re: Quick FTP of Joomla 1.5.7

It's a long story but I've cracked it Woo hoo!
username was not quite right Embarrassed but perseverence prevailed and I finally got Joomla up and running in test form...... in a sub directory but in doing so I have a better understanding of what I've done and believe I can redo the process but directly uploading all the joomla files into the httpdocs folder so that the path is correct for my domain without a forward slash suffix  Roll eyes
Blimey, what a learning curve today. once I've got to grips with this I might catalogue my findings for others using Joomla. A kind of Dummies (and old gits) guide to Joomla, plesk and plusnet.
FOOTNOTE: I do now feel a bit more confident about Plesk but boy is it different to what I'm used to.
Thanks to Kev M and Barry Z for their help and patience.
