webmail slow

I find looking at my emails over webmail is painfully slow and has been for several months.
I use one of my sub-mailboxes for most of my email. 
Any ideas to make it quicker - its really virtually impossible to use now?

I've been experiencing the same thing myself. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it takes an eternity to display the webmail page.
Jamesh advised me to increase my Rwin by following the advice elsewhere in this forum. This improved things for a day or two but it just went back to being painfully slow today, sometimes with a server time-out.

Ah, I thought it might be because I had a lot of messages because one mailbox with few messages was quicker that one with lots.

Our implementation of SquirrelMail does tend to struggle with large volumes of messages and/or big mailboxes.
