up speeds

I have had some trouble with speed recently and switching off my router and on again seemed to cure the down speed but the up speed is still quite poor, can any one suggest why this may be.
I get about 3.77mbps down and 0.18mbps up, previously I had about 4mbps down and 0.35mbps up,I know that up speeds are not all  that important but when sending longish E-mails it does annoy.
By the way it is a new filter and router ,Thomson from PN.

Re: up speeds

HI Teds,
Are the speed results via wired or wireless?

Re: up speeds

Hi Jojo, Its wireless ,all the usual things ie in main socket ,no extension phones, changed filter, new router (PN wireless 2C23D8)  had BT engineer a few weeks ago didn't find any thing.had speeds of around 5mbps around new year, then had all the trouble and now got 3.7mbps down and 0.18 or 0.16 up. I am happy with the down its the up thats a problem. Ted

Re: up speeds

Can you try a test wired.
If the upload is OK like that and your router is a v8 (the version is on the label underneath) JoJo will send you a replacement router (the older v7) which doesn't have the same problem.

Re: up speeds

I could try wired and its a v8, but its brand new do you think it maybe faulty,I have a v7 which was the previous one to this new one(that sounds wrong some how) I suppose I could put that back on .Do you think that may help. Ted

Re: up speeds

It's a bug in the v8 that is proving rather elusive to track down. Going back to the v7 should definitely improve things.

Re: up speeds

Hi ,Thanks Jojo and Jelv for staying with this. I will go through the results.
I tested the speed wireless and got
      3769kbps                      173kbps
then I hard wired it and got
      3765kbps                      368kbps
then I tried the old router and got
      3769kbps                      366kbps.
I have left the old router on
I now hope the old router stays OK. One thing I do find baffleing is why am I having this problem with a brand new router, a fault which Jelv recognised as a fault with this type of router,if this is true why does PN send them out to people that are already having problems.STRANGE  ???.  Ted.

Re: up speeds

I have decided to resurrect this post to save going through it all again,i have a question open on 54149254 ,but I dont seem to be going any where . The thomson v8 router did not give me a resonable up speed so that was changed to a Technicolor which failed totally and would not connect, I am now back with the v8 which is still giving very low speeds on up speeds.
With PN speed tester which seems to give the correct results and says it doesnt and the BT tester which should give correct speeds and doesnt ,I am fast getting past careing ,please can some one give it a bit of a push. After all I am a very very very old customer in more ways than one. Wink Ted

Re: up speeds

Hi Teds,
I see from your ticket that you say all the lights on the technicolor router are green apart from the internet light. This would indicate that you need to enter the username and password into it. Can you do that and see if it connects?
