thomson 585v7 lan ip issue

right ive just swapped my netgear out for the thomson on this line as am taking that with me when i move.
i thought i would just change the routers lan ip to my normal **.0.0.1 instead of the 192.168.1.254 in an effort to save people having to go through accepting and blocking all the custom mode policy warinings on my firewall (i dont like having firewalls thinking for them selfs so do it all manualy)
when i just changed the lan ip i got froze out the router took an age to get back in and when i did it had both the **.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.254 ips and was running of the dhcp on the 192 range so deleted the 192 ip to be left wid what i wanted and again locked out  Angry ***.0.0.1 and 192 either would get me back in to the router so had to do a hard reset  Roll_eyes
needless to say ive given up and every one left using this pants router will have to re do there firewall policys now.
ive also noticed when changing settings not even related to the wireless that this router will just suddenly revert back to the default plusnet ssid.
i know isp's love this router as its the cheapest on the market but come on guys its pants, i would like to see PN offer a netgear as well as the thomson or somthing as i diffrent choice even it raises the customers cost abit in doing so. it should be the customers choice which they have thoe.
also its very unfriendly setting up the ppp session user deatils when TR is switched off, stab in the dark which of the many wizards to use and when you do find the right one the dam thing has to resync to set the user deatils for the PPP session.
i think this router would be to poor to use a cup holder never mind a router.
think at some pointam going to have to get static ip's and set this router to accpect my ip on the remote managment as i can see some angry phone calls coming my way when people here cant get apps ect to work, mind that would need the stupid thing to stay connected when ive you click apply to any simple change

Re: thomson 585v7 lan ip issue

right how do you set the MTU on this bad boy as loads of the web pictures are failing to load, my sig has lost its pictures and am guessing this will be due to the pc's having an mtu set higher than the router

Re: thomson 585v7 lan ip issue

Not sure about your second post, but I seem to remember when doing all the fun and games for the TR69 trial that you need to wait 30 seconds after making any changes before navigating away from the page or rebooting the router. If you don't the changes won't be applied.
Not sure if that holds true for newer firmware versions, but then I'm also not sure what version you have.
Hope that helps,

Re: thomson 585v7 lan ip issue

i had tr turned off in the member centre when setting the router up.
ok ive set the mtu to 1500 on local interface but i see on kitz forum that this has to be done on the wan to Huh
Quote
_{Administrator}=>ip ifconfig intf Internet mtu 1500
Warning : the changes on a dynamic IP interface will not be saved.
{Administrator}=>

thats what i get when trying it on the wan to.
any one know the command to see what the MTU is actualy set at
p.s this what i used for the local mtu(yes with 1500 in place of mtu value before you ask)
Quote
ip ifconfig intf=LocalNetwork mtu= MTU VALUE
saveall

well the wan command works any way, just hope it lasts as the warning that pops up dont seem to think so running on a dynamic ip
