swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

hi there, before we swapped we had bt broadband and used to SYNC at 6240, also think was adsl2 as upload sync was more than 448
but now we have transfered to plus it is slowly geting slower and slower, to around 2848 and 448 up
the line length is 48db
for 2 years it worked fine with bt and after switching it has slowly got slower and slower in 3-4 months
regards

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

Your default noise margin has progressively increased and is now 15dB which would explain the reduction in download speed.
Judging by the upload speed you are either on 21CN ADSL1 or on 20CN - can you check if your exchange is 21CN enabled http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/
Are you aware of frequent disconnections and is there any noise on the line - dial 17070 option 2
When you moved to Plusnet did you keep your BT router or did you get a new router from Plusnet
It is possible that a filter is failing - have you made any changes in your property

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

Also have you anything (e.g. phone, alarm, Sky box) plugged in to any other telephone socket which is not connected via a filter?

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

Hi screwballs,
Welcome to the community forum Smiley
It looks like the noise on your line is the cause of the shortfall in your download speed, I'd suggest trying an alternative microfilter and also try with nothing else connected into your socket. If there is no improvement then I can place a SNR reset that will hopefully resolve this providing everything is OK internally.
Regarding your upload speeds, I can place a modify order to uncap this at it is currently set to 448kbps.
Let me know how you get on and if you would like your upload uncapping.

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

Hi there,
I've placed the order to uncap your upload and this will complete tomorrow. Although your router is showing an uptime of 9 days, there has been several disconnections over the past few days, so placing a SNR reset could make things worse at the moment. If you have been causing the disconnections then I'd suggest leaving your router turned on and we can monitor the connection and review in the morning.
If you haven't been doing and disconnections then I'd suggest raising a fault at http://faults.plus.net so we can investigate it from there.

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

Hi there,
The connection is definitely dropping still:
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image1352811426161.png" />
I'd guess that the regular seeming drops in the early morning might coincide with your heating coming on? Unfortunately though those drops will prevent the line from settling at a good speed if we do reset the SNR so that wouldn't be a good idea at this stage. I'd recommend turning the heating on and off a couple of times and seeing if that affects things?

Re: swapped from BT to PLUS SPEED issue

It does not have to be near the master socket as the problem, whatever it is, can be transmitted over your mains wiring.

The issue still seems to be prevalent. Central heating or security lights are definitely the most common cause so if possible I'd suggest manually turning off either of those (or both if you have them) at a certain time, just reply back here when you have and we should then be able to see if that's triggered a disconnection.
