speedtest.bt confusing info

Hi Guys
I'm on the CN21 trial and have been for several weeks now. I'm just a little confused by the speedtest.bt site.
I'm discussing this in the CN21 forum but am interested to hear more views:
I am plugged directly into my test socket and have no internal wiring to speak of. I seem to be achieving a solid downstream sync rate of about 3.2MBits but the speedtest.bt tool reported back that I have a maximum potential speed of over 7MBits on my line. James kindly agreed to cap my upstream back to 448 last night to see if it helped my downstream sync rates any but as you can see from this-mornings routerstats, it hasn't changed much.

I know my noise margin is quite high but I do live around a mile from the exchange. I'm wondering how reliable the speedtest.bt thing is and whether I should take any notice of it telling me I can get 7MBits on my ADSL2+ line?
Please note also that 3.2MBits is pretty much what I achieved on the old standard ADSL system so a prediction of 7MBits on ADSL2+ would not sound unreasonable would it?
Cheers
