router probs again

Help (again)    I had problems with my router and got help on here , it all boiled down to PN sending me a new v8 router but then I got problems with up speed on the new router and on advice that the v8 was prone to these faults I changed back to the v7 and things were fine until last night when the v7 failed, I have now changed back to the v8 but the up speed is poor (about 100k instead of 350k) can you help. I have done ALL the required tests and changed filter had BT engineer connected into main socket ,no extensions etc. etc .etc. Ted

Re: router probs again

Hi Teds,
Are the results wired or wireless? Do you notice a difference in the wired v wireless speed?

Re: router probs again

Hi Ted,
Normally with this issue the downstream speed wont be affected. Yours seem to drop a lot, so I'm not 100% convinced. I'd suggest using something like inSSIDer to see if the wireless channel you're on has any interference on it.

Re: router probs again

Hi Ted,
Just had a look at your line and have been able to lift your profile a bit  to 4900 to allow for your new BT IP profile. This should take effect shortly.
For help with changing the wireless channel we have a guide here
Hope that helps.

Re: router probs again

Hi Anyone
All of above seems to point to a router fault even though the router is a new PN thomson v8 , I was advised on here that there is a known fault on these routers, which involves slow up speed. Can any one say if a differant router from a online purchase may solve the issue. Cant think why (if this is the case) PN are supplying routers to solve problems when the new router is just causing new ones. Ted

Re: router probs again

Hi Ted,
Forgive me, I didn't realise you were talking about upload speeds. Are you getting slow upload speeds over ethernet, wireless or both.
