Re: please help!!!!! slow broadband speed

You need to reboot your computer and your router (removing the power cable does the job) and then retest the speed.

Re: please help!!!!! slow broadband speed

Only routers can be reset to factory defaults. reversing the effect of changes to RWIN and MTU on your laptop is done by running DrTCP again and resetting the values. I don't think it's been asked but does your laptop run Windows Vista? If it does then the changes (tweaks) you've just done will have no effect. In this case please post back here to say that is the case, do not continue with what follows.
Only if your operating system is Windows XP (or earlier) continue with this. Please run a tweaktest at DSLreports (here). To get the results select DSL, enter 8000, select your operating system, and leave Connection at normal. Just above the red text near the bottom of the results page you will be given a URL in small letters. Please copy and paste that here. Once I've seen that I'll provide further suggestions.

Re: please help!!!!! slow broadband speed

That is possibly due to the low speeds you are experiencing.
Does your router still show the same (excellent) connection stats as you posted before?
To eliminate your laptop as the source of the problem do you have an alternative computer to try (or a friend who could try theirs)?

… will help ensure we don't provide worthless information. What operating system did the second laptop have? That could show poor speeds, but for a different reason.

Re: please help!!!!! slow broadband speed

Please would you post your current router stats again, like the ones you posted earlier (here). To get those you need to access the Status pages of your router at http://voyager.home/
Then run DrTCP (which you downloaded on a previous occasion), and post the values shown in all the boxes (as an image if you know how to create one). I've attached an image of the DrTCP window from my computer; different values might be shown for some of your settings.
Note that though your sync speed might be 8Mbps the fastest *throughput* speed you will see is around 6.5Mbps because transmission overheads (ATM and TCP/IP + website connection management) must be subtracted from the sync speed. Admittedly that is considerably higher than you are experiencing now.
