Worth flagging up, might be fixed for when Master and Commander finishes..

Re: news group / usenet access

Leave it with me, I'm just giving networks a call.
Was definitely working earlier.

Re: news group / usenet access

I'm not getting any authentication errors and the newsgroup Headers come down quite quickly, but the message body download is  **CENSORED** slow.   Usenet is for all practical purposes unusable at the mo.

Re: news group / usenet access

Thansk for the feedback.
I've got someone from the CSC trying from one of our test lines to see if they can reproduce the problems you guys are seeing.

Re: news group / usenet access

Just to update.
We've noticed an ellacoya change that needs making for access to our own servers.
I've a P1 raised which is being worked on atm.

Re: news group / usenet access

We believe that access to our text based newsgroups should now be working fine and in a timely manner.
Apologies for the problems throughout the day.

Re: news group / usenet access

UPDATE:  Had a short intermission about 10 minutes ago with no access to the Mail Server.   Then as I was raising a fault report  access was restored - and with it a much improved performance on Usenet message body downloads.   Not perfect yet, but definitely much better Cheesy

Re: news group / usenet access

Change has been made on the Ellacoya DB, you might need to close your usenet client and give it 15 minutes for the change to completely take effect but my testing here shows it being picked up correctly now.

Re: news group / usenet access

Was on ag03 and it was absolutely crawling at the time of this post, did a soft router rebbot and got onto ag02 and running fine so something must still be wrong

Re: news group / usenet access

Connect times are pretty lousy, but once its connected it seems to be working OK.
I've updated the ticket just in case.

Re: news group / usenet access

When I try to access newsnet, I am asked for username and password (cannot remember ever having this before). I have tried my usual Plusnet username and password but this is not recognised. Is this part of the same problem, please, or is there a different username and password which I should know?
