my braodbands speeds are not good at all

just done a broadband speed test at bt website and this is what i got-
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  2720 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
    Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1576 kbps


im ment to be on a 8mb broadband

any ideas what i can do to speed it up?

Hi there,
It's likely that your IP profile has been reduced due to a poor sync on your line. I'll go investigate and get back to you shortly.

Looking at the line stats you seem to be a fair way from the exchange (48db) and with quite a high SNR of 16. You can try eliminating as much of your internal wiring from the circuit by plugging the modem/router directly into the master socket without the use of extension leads.
This may help increase the sync rate from where it is currently at 2720 and therefore will increase the IP profile.
If that's all gobbledegook then I'd have a read of James' blog post on the subject of speed faults.

ok,my modem is pluged into the wall,guess it must be cos of the exchange
