Re: intermitent Connection

No problem John. I've been busy myself. Most of the surrounding area appears to be on 11, then one & 6 being the least congested. Assuming if I change to 6, it'd be faster? And if so, how's that accomplished? No reply needed if you're busy, but I thought I'd ask!

Re: intermitent Connection

Depends what the nearest and strongest signal to you is, but if you are on, say, Ch6 and the nearest is on Ch11, it means there will be less congestion, so you're not both fighting for a piece of the same pie, so to speak.

I'll post a picture of my results in a while - a picture paints a thousand words.Wink

Re: intermitent Connection

WiFi pictureWiFi pictureAs you can see, the nearest signal to me (my next-door neighbour) is on Ch1, so not impacting me at all. The three on Ch6 are far enough away to not really concern me, the three in the Ch7-Ch11 band are of absolutely no concern. If I do get any Wi-Fi interference from the three on 6, I may swap to 11, but as I'm guessing some of those are on auto-selection, it may all be different tomorrow.

Re: intermitent Connection

Is there any way to change the channel, or can only Plusnet do that?

Re: intermitent Connection

Why not use ch 13 - then you win all round ...

Its what i do, as most neighbors don't switch there router to do the frequencies allowable in the UK ....

Re: intermitent Connection

@summers Can you use  Ch13 with the 2704N? I've no experience of that router, so have no idea.

You change it yourself, @ThreeNineteen - the instructions are somewhere on the help pages, but as I said to @summers above, I've never even seen a 2704N in the flesh, so to speak, so can't help. Maybe if they are still following this thread, they could advise?

Re: intermitent Connection

Well I don't know that router - but my TP-Link and I think my Thomoson, you could set the WiFi to a region - and selecting UK on them and it gave access to Ch13. The default on most seems to be US - as thats the most restrictive ....

Re: intermitent Connection

Thanks, @summers. Before I suggest anything else, I think we ought to wait and see how far @ThreeNineteen has got.

Re: intermitent Connection

I've changed it to Channel 13. After a bit of slowness it seems to work better. I've only had to reconnect the WiFi once, since yesterday.

Dare we say, "fixed"?

Re: intermitent Connection

I wouldn't, given the unpredictability of broadband. Give it till the weekend, then mark whichever post you think suitable as the fix, and I can reduce my watched threads by one.Cheesy

Re: intermitent Connection

Might take you up on that next time I'm down in Brighton (not this one in December, though, it's already 'organised') Grin

Re: intermitent Connection

Hey John, hope you're well?

It was substantially better, until yesterday where it became unusable. Sunday's are always busy traffic days, but it kept telling me I was "Connected To The Internet", but I couldn't load more than one tab or stream anything greater than 240p.

Any ideas?
