Re: fibre optic question

Your present speed is impossible on ADSL - do you mean 3.5Mbps
Fibre speed is governed by your distance to the fibre cab so while a speed increase is likely there is no guarantee until the cab goes live and you can check the expected speed

Re: fibre optic question

wwffan2, you need to search your phone number as opposed to post code to get a more accurate outcome.
If you submit your phone number here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker What does it tell you?

Re: fibre optic question

I just did that and it says
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
The following services are available in your location:
BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
BT Wholesale SDSL
BT FTTC
Bulldog LLU
But I had fibre installed today is it possible my speeds will go up ?

Re: fibre optic question

unlikely but try the BT speed test - further diagnostics
See the sticky at the top of this board
With that result we can see if there is room for an increase assuming you are on Unlimited and not Essentials

This is because you currently have a service on your line.

No, it sounds like you're actually getting faster speeds than the estimated speed for you line. The date mentioned 30/06/2014 is the planned date for FTTC to be available in your area and that may still be the case for some people in your area, however, your line will not have any work done to it to "improve speeds".
