fast mornings, slow evenings

my connection is usually about 4mb. For the last 3 days I've been ok in the mornings but my speed's been dropping to about 800k in the evenings.
anyone know what's going on?
update: just after midnight and speed's up again.
This looks like I'm being throttled in the evenings?Huh
I'm well within the limits tho - has someone at pn duffed something?

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

I have passed this issue over to our team that can look at it a little more for you.
Looking at the account there is certainly the ability that there could be something wrong on our side, but for obvious reasons, I cannot get this checked until the peak times.

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Hi there,
Could you possibly try runnning a BT Speedtest and show us the results, during the slower peak times so that we have something to go on?

It is possible/likely that this issue is being caused by exchange contention, but I'd like to see what your speed test results are like initially.

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

From plusnet's own speed checker:
You can see the faster speeds at the bottom and the more recent slow speeds at the top. Yes, and a few zero's too...
Exchange is green and everything's looking ok - I do suspect that some restrictions came into effect over the xmas month which haven't been lifted in this new billing period.

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Hi Rik,
The speed test you have used is generially recognised as being somewhat "hit and miss".
You can try using our new one - http://mybroadbandspeed.co.uk which we're hoping to integrate into the portal before long.
It looks like you just reached level management 1 on your Premier product for going over 13GB, but this shouldn't have any affect on your HTTP speeds and this should have been reset.
I'll have a word with Davve when he gets in at 12 just to double check that this has been done.

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Good stuff.
I just got one of our data analysts to amend your profile and reset your data usage.
I think that what happened was that your usage wasn't reset at the end of your last billing month, meaning that you may have been but on a management level.  hopefully this should have sorted out your problem.

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Well I thought we had this problem fixed. All was well but this evening the speed's gone down to about 300k.
Has someone sat on the big red button again?

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Hi Rik,
As far as I can tell, it isn't service offer related.  You're on SO11 which is the standard Ellacoya rule for Premier Option 1.
Do you notice any improvement after a reboot?  Any change in Sync speed that could have caused this at all?

Re: fast mornings, slow evenings

Speed was ok for a few weeks there but the problem has returned.
Daytime speed around 4Mb, evening dropping to about 700Kb.
Update: running speed tests this morning 12th Feb 2008, I'm getting half my normal speed - it's down to about 2Mb.
What's going on?
