extreme slowness tonight

suffering with a rediculously slow 0.75mbps tonight on a normally solid 5 - 6mbps connection.. what gives?

There's nothing obvious I can see.
Are you on wired/wireless?
Are you using the connection whilst performing that test (uploading or downloading in the background?)

Exact same problem here. Not using anything else or affecting things in any way, and this morning I was getting my regular 8-14Mb(sometimes 18Mb if I'm lucky) and on wireless. This is too slow to do much at all and certainly not catch up with some TV.

What kind of speeds do you get on a wired connection? We need to try and see whether the issue is the wireless, or the line.

Mine is the same too, has been very slow and yesterday and again today Tues 29th, this morning and now after lunch,, it is abysmal.
Was ok on the 17th Dec  and before that although it did slow down somewhat during the early evening (although I could still stream/surf t'internet etc.

and before then it was all ok, have rebooted the router (and my pc) but since has been very poor,

Not sure what all these figures mean but basically, it is now very, very poor and sometimes, the internet is not there at all.
Disappointed.

Have just looked at my account on Plusnet and I see the following:-

Current line speed:
    18.5 Mb
Since it was "checked", the speeds I have recorded have all been very low ie the highest has been 2 or 3Mbps.
What is the check and who does this check please? Was it something I did or was it Plusnet who checks this every so often?
