Yes BUT, If you use WDS ( see here http://www.kerrins.co.uk/blog/2008/08/netgear-dg834g-and-wireless-repeating/ for instructions ) then you cannot use WPA security you must use WEP, which is not very secure. Alternatively if its possible to connect the DG834G to the primary router via Ethernet ( or HomePlugs ) then you can just use it as a separate Wireless AP with whatever security you wish.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
I gave up trying to get WDS to work on my DG834GTs and opted for the homeplug route http://www.unix.ms/netgear/ I recall that if you use WDS it halves the wireless throughput, so 54mb becomes 27mb
As a purely personal recommendation I've used a netgear rangemax WAP for extended wireless range. Its signal reached 5 PCs over a 4 floor 5 bedroom shared house no problem at all
