disconnected my router a lot in first 10 days does it affect speed

Hi as above i dissconnected my adsl router dozens of times in the first 2 weeks as i was having problems with my server port forwarding, so question is there anyway to check if i affected my speed by doing this or is the only way to request a SNR, reason for asking is when i was with O2 i used to get higher speed and i am sure when Plusnet was first connected my speed was higher.
Thanks
Robert

If you post your full router stats including the attenuation, noise margin and sync speed along with the results of a BT diagnostic speed test we will be able to tell if your speed is being affected by the disconnects.

Re: disconnected my router a lot in first 10 days does it affect speed

That looks as if you have got away with it. You just need to check that https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed says your current line speed is 5Mb.
One thing you could do is ask for your upload to be uncapped which will give you faster uploads.

Looks like it's updated to 5Mb now, not sure there'd be much more you'd get on the download side but as Jelv says we can uncap your upload if you wish? It'd be complete in 24 hours and won't cost anything, and should improve your upload speeds to around 1Mb.

Now ain't that strange  Roll_eyes he's been connected for at least 2 weeks according to the OP but no update to the original preset Current LIne Speed had occurred by the 13th  Undecided

Re: disconnected my router a lot in first 10 days does it affect speed

Thanks i have been connected for a couple of months now, at the start i connected at well over 5Mb\s and then dropped to around 4.2 Mb\s, i then found out that i was on 20CN and should have been on 21CN when this was updated last week my speed went up to around the 5Mb\s mark, but i wondered as my current line speed still shows over 7Mb\s.
So the reason i asked the question was in the first couple of weeks i was having a lot of bother with my server and post forwarding and ip addresses so i was constantly unplugging the router and reconnecting without logging off first (have now found out that you should do this first), so just wondered if this had any effect on my speeds, as when i was with O2 a while back i used to get higher
Thanks
Robert
Just checked current line speed and it now states 5Mb\s

Re: disconnected my router a lot in first 10 days does it affect speed

My remark was more a dig at the absence of  automated Delta reports from BT to Plusnet and lack of running of Plusnet scripts to update the Current Line Speed in line with the BT Profile. I, for example have just gone 12 days without an update being effected (20CN), only now having moaned to find I had a resync about 2130  which has dropped the profile again, which I suspect  was caused by an intrusive line test as my line is normally rock solid with very low errors.
Anyway as far as your line performance goes, as was commented earlier, you appear to have "got away with it". If you want to make changes, it's best to go off line by dropping your PPP session first as you've been advised before then powering down. It would be best to do all the changes off-line and only go back on-line when you have done or have no option but to test on-line.
The sync speed you are currently getting is quite good for your line attenuation. The Noise margin suggests you may have a bit of noise pick up on your line which will ultimately limit what you can get out of it. Errors don't seem to bad for a non-interleaved line.
But stats with a longer uptime would give a better idea.
