Something is amiss here this morning speed wise ...
Profiles seem ok, and ADSL connection is its usual 8128 but ...
Normally, it is ...
BBC iPlayer diagnostics and BT speed test both also showing about 1.9 Mbit ...
Tried a gateway jump from ptw-ag02 to ptw-ag01 - made no difference

With BT tester its the IP profile that is important, you might have lost connection enough times for the system to lower it

Appreciate that.
The connection hasn't dropped out for quite a while, so theoretically the BT profile will be at 7.15 like it always is (along with the PN profile)
Unfortunately, the BT Speedtester is now erroring at the last stage (sending results to the database), so I cannot actually see the BT profile.
That is unusual in itself - wonder if its relevant , or just the tester having a bad day ?

Hi Roswellgrey,
Your BT profile is currently banded, this is restricting your speeds. I have placed a SNR reset to rectify this.
This usually takes up-to 4 hours but can sometimes take up-to 24 hours.
Let me know if you have any further issues.

I have stolen this quote from another thread ...
I really thought that was the case as well.
I would be interested if someone in the know could confirm or deny that "banding" on 20CN ADSL only affects the sync speed, and doesn't directly affect the BT IP profile.
I do understand the other reasons for the BT IP profile being manipluted by the bt infrastructure - this is specifically a "banding" question ...
Quote from: Oldjim A general question with respect to this
From the stats given - upstream 448kbps - I would have assumed that the poster is either on 20CN or 21CN ADSL1 neither of which, as far as I know, do banding.
My understanding is that banding affects the sync speed not the profile ...... [snip]

Chris - I dont think the SNR reset went through ?
(The one reconnect was me trying to poke the dlm into updating its profile by doing the old "force a reconnect at a lower sync speed " trick
This caused a slight increase from 1.9 to 3.3 Mbit, but it is stuck there now and hence is well short of what it has been for many years ... i..e a rock solid profile of 7.15 and the performance that goes with it)
I still cannot check the BT IP profile, as speedtester stubbornly refuses to complete without erroring.
This is despite me using the reported version of Java that works (amongst trying many other versions, pcs and browsers)
However, the PN profile is now 3.5, so must assume that the BT one is the same.
In case you are wondering, the sync is how it always is, namely:
Upstream rate = 448 Kbps, Downstream rate = 8128 Kbps
Down Up
SNR (dB): 10.8 23.0
Attn(dB): 16.0 11.0
Pwr(dBm): 19.7 11.8
So, could you give the SNR reset another try for me, please ?

I've spoken with our suppliers today who have now amended your profile rate. You should see an increase within the next 4 hours.
Let me know how you get on.
