I need your help, I have had to reboot my router more times in the last few weeks then ever.
It does not make sense what is happening, I can using one laptop and all is okay, then the connection to the internet drops. I can still connect to the router to view therouter toolkit which stated the router is connected. As a fault I check the connection with another laptop and all is well and sometimes not,
So does anyone know what is happening?
Cheer
Alan

When you are connected wireless and you experience the issue, are you able to try connecting a ethernet cable from your laptop to your router to see if you can then use the Internet?
Looking at your line it doesn't appear to be losing connectivity;

ping 8.8.4.4
If you get replies to the ping, try
nslookup www.plus.net 192.168.1.254
and
nslookup www.plus.net 8.8.4.4
(8.8.4.4 is a Google DNS server, 192.168.1.254 is the default LAN IP address of the 582n)

Thanks for the update, as I stated in the original post it is not the connection of the laptop to router that is dropping, it is the actual connection to the internet. I can connect wireless to the router but cannot use the intranet. This is occurring frequently but not consistently.
You are showing that there is good connectivity from the stats you are showing, but this is not reflected in the wireless connection by a number of different devices - laptops, tablets or phones and the frequency I am Laing connectivity.
What can you suggest is causing the issue, is this hardware (router, modem or connecting device) or software (firewall, virus checker)?
Cheers Alan

Quote from: ejs Next time it happens, open a command prompt and do:
ping 8.8.4.4
If you get replies to the ping, try
nslookup www.plus.net 192.168.1.254
and
nslookup www.plus.net 8.8.4.4
(8.8.4.4 is a Google DNS server, 192.168.1.254 is the default LAN IP address of the 582n)
Thanks ejs this will help to fault find and determine if the issue is hardware or software.
Cheers again

The problem remains, I believe from running the troubleshooter built into Windows that this has something to do with the proxy setting or the DNS look up. As you tell this is a little beyond me, I understand internet connections to appoint but when something doesn't work and it is little more complicated then I have to ask for expert guidance to resolve this. So I have connected by cable and I get the same thing.
I have reset the router and also cleared the cache and history from the laptops. It is only when I reset/restart the router that the system works so there is obviously something to do the router or modem setup.
I am looking for some help and guidance on how to resolve this.
By the way I have pinged the Google DNS server and I get a Postive response, also tested the NSlookup suggested on both server and router and that works as well.
Over to you.
Thanks
Alan

Does this happen on multiple devices?
If it just happens on your laptop, are you able to check that your Network Drivers are up to date?

To rule out an issue with your laptops picking up DNS, you could try changing which DNS Servers it connects to? (You may not be able to do this on your works laptop)
Google's details are:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4
Plusnet's:
Primary: 212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50
Or
Primary: 212.159.6.9
Secondary: 212.159.6.10
