Re: changing gateway

disconnect then reconnect - this doesn't doesn't mean resync as that is handled by the BT modem

Re: changing gateway

So is it ok to keep changing gateways.
I'm getting speeds of 73mb  it says on bt tester my line supports 77.4. Is fibre like adsl where you lose a bit of speed because of overheads etc. also with changing gateways would it be possible to get more then 73 ( I don't care I'm just interested)
And is it best to get off the pcl gateway

Re: changing gateway

Yes, your throughput speed will always be a little bit below the Profile. Hopping Gateways is fine if you really need to, and use the Disconnect / Connect buttons as Jim advised. Wait about 30 seconds between Disconnect and Connect.

Re: changing gateway

I'm afraid there is no list of proven "good" and "bad" gateways. So just monitor how it's working and if things slow up try a gateway change. I've seen several cases where one customer on a gateway had dire speeds and another had normal speeds on the same gateway. So it's trial and error at the moment to find one that works for you...

Re: changing gateway

On the main "Network Map" page, I click the round globe button in the top box, next to where it says "Internet status: Connected". The right-hand column then changes to show the Internet Staus information. Then I slide the switch labelled "Connection status" to OFF. The router then shuts down PPP and you get the rotating circle icon while it does it. Then I count to 30 (ish) and slide the switch back again. Then when the Internet Status changes back to "Connected" again, I go and check which gateway I've connected to.
Hope that makes sense!

Re: changing gateway

Which firmware are you on? I'm using the Merlin 3.0.0.4.266.23. Perhaps it's different in the official Asus firmware...?

Re: changing gateway

We're getting off topic here! But yes, there is a later one at the bottom of the list. Try that. I haven't updated to that yet.
