can my connection go any faster JOJO PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN OR OTHER ADMIN

I was wondering if my speed was the best i can expect the bt test shows this
Download  Speed
2232 Kbps

0 Kbps 7150 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2232 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4608 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps

if thats of any help and my line status from the router has this info
Broadband Line Status

   Refresh

Line Mode G.DMT Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave Line Up Time 00:03:06:33
Line Coding Trellis Off Line Up Count 1

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 4608 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 9.5 dB 22.0 dB
Line Attenuation 51.0 dB 30.0 dB
Output Power 19.6 dBm 11.9 dBm

if thats of use as you can see line up time is only 3 hours as it drops every day at least once

Re: can my connection go any faster or is this as good as it gets

You could get a bit more speed if you could stop it dropping and the default noise margin reduced to 6dB
However to get any more effective speed you would need to have the speed increased to 5120kbps minimum (IP profile increased from 4000kbps to 4500kbps) but to be honest that may not be possible.
I have the same attenuation as you and I can't get anything over 5000kbps with a 6dB noise margin.
However your present IP profile is 3500kbps which tends to indicate that a resync over night is dropping your speed to below 4544kbps (4000kbps IP profile) so you need to find out what is causing the drop and fixing it.
The first thing to try is connecting the router to the test socket and see if things improve
For comparison these are my stats
Noise Margin:    5.6  dB
Connection Rate:  4800  Kbps
Line Attenuation: 51.0  dB

Re: can my connection go any faster or is this as good as it gets

I cant actually get to my test socket but can get that done at the weekend  sofa is too large to move till hubby is home lol.
The connection dropping is a major annoyance i just dont know what to do to stop it, we moved router as it was on an extension cable to right by the master socket so plugged straight in via filter one phone and sky also plugged in unless i do need a new router as has been suggested to replace my BT Voyager 2110 as my connection drops daily.
How long do i need to be plugged into the test socket as  i guess my home phone wont work then

Elsewhere on this forum there have been discussions about double filtering Sky boxes because of the (alleged) effect they might have in the broadband.
So just as a suggestion, try running for a while without the Sky box connected to the phone line, and see whether the broadband drops reduce or disappear ?

thanks i will try that first as the easiest option i can just unplug my sky box do you just piggy back the filters if that is the problem i mean plug one into anothe then plug into equipment and master socket

Remember - don't double filter the broadband - only the phone or Sky connection

thanks will try unplugging first then double filtering if the connection stops dropping on me  should know pretty soon if the sky box is the problem if not  then i will move to the test socket tomorrow

Re: can my connection go any faster JOJO PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN OR OTHER ADMIN

Regarding the test socket - you can attach the phone and the router via a filter as normal.
If you go down that route you need to leave it connected long enough to see if that fixes the problem

Re: can my connection go any faster JOJO PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN OR OTHER ADMIN

The router won't fit into the test socket which looks just the same as a normal phone socket.
You need to fit the filter to the test socket and the router and phone to the filter

just run a quick bt test and already a speed inprovement

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.

Re: can my connection go any faster JOJO PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN OR OTHER ADMIN

This is the only part which is relevant
Quote
Line Rate  4704 Kbps  448 Kbps
Noise Margin  9.4 dB  22.0 dB
Line Attenuation  51.0 dB  30.0 dB

The point is that your speed test result is limited by the IP profile.
This is effectively set by your sync speed with preset bands as given here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm#IP_and_bRAS_profiles
If your line holds sync at 4704kbps the IP profile will increase to 4000kbps in a couple of days
