bt speedtester ip profile ?

hello all
i joined the elite on friday and straight away my throughput has been a stable 1.8 meg up from my previous provider Poopex which was averaging only .5 of a meg 
these are my results -
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  5952 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1864 kbps
what im wondering about is the profile, is or will it change as my line supports up to 8 meg and 6.5 to 7 meg throughput ?
any help welcomed

Were you on a static 2mb connection with Pipex? If so your line will settle down and find its ideal speed over the next week or so, your sync speed suggests that around 5mb should be about right.
If you were on max with Pipex it should uplift a bit quicker than that, next couple of days or so.

i was on the 8 meg max - not that i ever got any where near that lol

Hi there,
If you have a read of the speed faults troubleshooting guide in my signature, hopefully it should explain the situation to you a little better.
I'd be inclined to think that you were never on the full 8Mbps service with PIPEX, but just the marketed "upto 8Mbps" version.

the speed is still sat at 1.83 so frustrating when i know the line has seen speeds of 6 meg hope it soon increases

Hi there,
One thing which may help, which I'm not sure if you have been doing, is to reboot your router on a daily basis in the early days of your new connection.
This can help BT to identify that a change in IP Profile is required.

ive been doing that on occasion, not sure ive done it every day though. Ill try that too

6 days now and results pretty much the same, except my line sync seems to be getting higher -

Hi there,
Could you possibly raise a fault via http://faults.plus.net so that we can get this raised to BT please?
You may initially get a "none found" response, but don't worry about that.  we should be able to get BT to recalculate your profile for you.

many thanks and ive gone through all the questions it asks and its doing tests now, hope we can get the profile raised ?

the fault report has come back already saying no problem found and the reported speed was none found lol
can you confirm that the profile will be looked at

I replied to your ticket earlier this morning.
Your fault is now back with BT.  I'm just waiting on them to recalculate your IP Profile.
