broadbad speed is only half of used to be. (customer)

My broadband has been activated since 16-June.  The first day and half, I got about 3Mbps.  Afterwards, my speed only stay in 2mb.  I thought I waited for the line to stabilised.  When I was with the other ISP, I got around 3.5 to 4.2Mb.  I have done all the bt wholesale check etc.... my ip profile is set at 2mb.  Could someone change my ip profile to 4mb please.  I tried the on-line chat but there are always more than 10 people in front of me and by the time it is my turn, I may not noticed it and the on-line chat will end before it even starts.

Basically your connection speeds both up and down are far too low for your attenuation (distance from the exchange) so there is a problem
Are you connected to the master socket or an extension
If an extension can you try the master socket
If the master socket does it have a removable lower faceplate and, if so, can you connect the router to that socket with a filter

I have done everything all this before. Except the master socket because there is no master socket in both boxes in my house.  I have unscrewed them and both of them are old style bt box only.  my ip proflle was set to 2..   Could someone  change the ip profile to 4mb   please.

The IP profile is dependent on sync speed which is why it is what it is
I suggest raising a speed fault at https://faults.plus.net
Re banded profile - I wasn't aware that you could have one on the upstream and that is also horribly low

I don't think you can Jim but whatever is causing the DS banding could well be affecting the US as well. With, apparently, no NTE5 master socket and at least 2 sockets, it could well be a ring wire problem...

I can see you've raised a fault to our Faults team.
The line is banded most likely due to the drops shown below.

I removed the ring wire (number 3) on one of the face plate after reading from the internet.  The router stats shows  a promising/better pictures.

Excellent
That has sorted out the upstream and, assuming that the line is stable for a couple of days Plusnet will get the banding removed

That does seem to have improved matters, the downstream achievable rate is well up but I'm confused by this

Might be worth removing from all faceplates as,depending on rouing of wires, it can still sometimes act as a aerial for noise pickup even when disconnected at one end

For reasons I don't  understand it sometimes isn't higher as you would expect (I remember discussing it with JoJo in another thread)
