adsl2+ - speeds alot lower than ip profile

Hi folks,
Can any one shed any light on this for me please, I've been regraded to adsl2+, I'm only getting around 6.5Mbps at the moment even though I'm currently syncing at 16,527 Kbps, the BT Speedtest has my IP Profile as 14.58 Mbps. Is the slow speed just a process of the 10 day thing (ie am i being impatient) or am i missing something?

Cheers Adam... things aint looking too great, hoping its just the 10day line sync thing... connection speed has dropped from 16000kbps to 12993kbps

Hi Stigfish,
Your SNR is currently 11dB so this will make the sync rate a little lower. Are you using any extension cables/sockets? Do you have a test socket you can plug into?

Yes its on an extension Jo, but i've tried it in the test socket with no difference, very strange, when i was on normal adsl i sync'd at 8192kbps and had a perfect line, that was only a matter of days ago, im not up on this adsl stuff so dont know the ins & outs, but until now my connection has always been pretty spot on (no disconnections etc).

When you tried it in the test socket was it that the result of a speed test was just the same or that the sync speed, noise margin were unchanged?
If using an extension is causing extra errors or disconnects it could take many days if not weeks for the improvement given by using the test socket to show through in speed test results.
When on ADSL1 you were syncing at full speed so there would have been plenty of spare margin and the extension lead would not have been a factor. Now it's attempting to run at higher speeds which will give a lower margin the extension could be significant.

I didnt run a speedtest from the test socket, I just noted that the sync speed and noise margin were unchanged.

The problem is that the target noise margin may have been pushed up as a result of using the extension so when you used the test socket you'd get a similar connection.
If you leave it in the test socket for a few days and it stays stable with no disconnections you could then ask PN (via these forums) to reset the line which would set the target back to normal and give you higher speed. If that stayed stable (still using the test socket) for a week or so you could then try the extension again to see if it caused the speed to drop.

Ok I'm now running from the test socket and will continue to do so for 3 or 4 days as suggested, below is a paste of my router adsl status page (whilst in test socket), included it just in case anyone sees anything obvious in the meanwhile

Hi Craig,
The target SNR is 12dB at the moment, so if it hasn't improved in the test socket, once your 10 days are up I can request it reset back to 6dB.
