a query on uploads

my speedtest results are
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6098 kbps
but mybroadbandspeed
Today 10:44  5661 kbps (708kB/s)  373 kbps (46.6kB/s)
Yesterday 22:43  5572 kbps (697kB/s)  382 kbps (47.8kB/s)
Yesterday 22:43 4570 kbps (571kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)
Monday 16:20 5691 kbps (711kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)

three lap top, XP with BTusb
xp with internal wifi
win98 with BT card wifi
all give very similar results

Re: a query on uploads

Hi,
I'm not sure really what you're asking?  You seem to be asking why your upload speed doesn't vary by much.  That doesn't really seem to be an issue surely?

Re: a query on uploads

Not sure what you are asking here. After you have taken in to account the overheads, around 380 is the normal upload speed from a 448 sync.
If you want faster: http://www.plus.net/residential/broadband/max_premium_offer.shtml

Re: a query on uploads

OK, I had seen it quoted that 400+ upload was normal, obviously not

Re: a query on uploads

Upload sync speed of 448Kbps is often the case, but actual throughput with the levels you are seeing is perfectly acceptable.

Re: a query on uploads

With a 448kbps upload sync, 391kbps is the maximum idealised throughput value when transport overheads are allowed for. This is like 8128kbps download sync leading to 7150kbps idealised throughput.
So around 380kbps actual upload throughput is good.
