Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

So ive checked my speed again now it seems to have gone back to the 2.5 mb speed but the maximum achieveable speed has still remained where it should which is at 7mb compared to yesterdays wrong achievable speed which was 4mb. Atleast the maximum is set to the correct one. Would I have to wait for the exchange to set me back to my normal 5/6mb speed or?
Here is the DSL connection this is the current stats after i reset today at 7am.
Everything looks ok i guess just waiting for the speed to pop back to normal.

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

did you see my post earlier today.  you did your reboot at a bad time, early morning in the dark.
Try one tomorrow at least half hour after sunrise and before about 2 pm, you might get a higher synch speed..
also you router is now reporting a slightly lower speed than this morning it was 1228/7332 now 1232/7040

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

Can you check the IP profile from the BT speedtest http://speedtester.bt.com/ and the Current Line Speed from here - until they match your actual router speed (they should be approx 6,400kbps) you won't see higher speeds from the speed test

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

You will probably find that the Current Line Speed  https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed is still about 2500kbps hence the low speed - that should sort itself out by the morning
Can you post the router stats taken immediately after the resync

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

Ok no problem, but what is causing the low speeds?

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

As you posted at the beginning of this thread your sync speed was low - we discussed the reasons for that.
Once your sync speed went up to a reasonable level your IP profile would increase - which it has - but the Plusnet mirror of it takes a bit longer at present.
The actual speed you get is restricted by the lower of the two values. In your case probably the Plusnet one

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

What's your Current line speed as requested up-thread?
It will almost certainly be the reason your speed is so much slower than the IP profile. It should get updated when PN get a Delta report from BT, but this sometimes takes 12-24 hours. With it being the weekend, it's unlikely the DCT (who will manually reset the value for you) will be here for a few days, but if your Current line speed does not increase in line with your IP profile, then you should be able to call the help desk who should be able to reset it for you.

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

It would appear - as well as the Plusnet Profile mentioned above - that the default noise margin has gone up to 9dB
You can either wait for it to sort itself out (probably it will take 3 or 4 weeks) or ask for a line reset - the latter would be better via the Forums in the New Year

My current line speed says
"Telephone number:

Estimated line speed:

Re: Your average speed drop post AGAIN!

That's a ping test, not a speed test.
It's perfectly normal to get a few random bad results from any speed tester.
It's not normal for the speed to change unless your router drops the connection (or you cause it to do that by restarting it).  What does the uptime on your router stats. say?
