Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Try much less secure - you can hack a WEP key in about 10 minutes!
There's no way I'm prepared to use WEP, especially when the router supposedly supports the much stronger WPA2.

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Device:  Laptop
Make:  HP Pavillion DV6700 series
OS Vista Home Premium
i) Limited Connectivity when Laptop is powered down or restarted.
ii) Also, restricted upload speed even when connected properly 180kbps wireless, instead of 370kbps ethernet.  Download speed performs normally ~6mbps ethernet and wireless.
I have raised a ticket, but the ticket now refers to a firmware fix to be published through this forum, so Plusnet must be at a stage of recognising this problem..  If this is not the case, I need to reactivate the ticket and ask for a replacement.
I am presently using an old modem / router and haven't had a problem in over 10 days, so it seems pretty conclusive to me that there are problems with the v8 wireless functionality on PCs.
Please let me know if the problem is acknowledged or if I need to raise another ticket for modem replacement.

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Hi AndrewD,
We are aware of an issue with apple mac devices and do have a fix for that but the reason I started this thread was to try to determine issues with other OS's. I have quite a few examples now and this will help us decide whether we think this is something the current firmware upgrade will also rectify.

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Just to add to my other post, I noticed an issue with the router changing the NAT settings my Xbox360 uses. Despite me enabling UpNp, giving the device a static IP address and assigning the Xbox to allow sharing, the NAT setting has mysteriously changed to strict since I restarted my router yesterday.
Thanks,
Paul

Try unchecking the 'Enable UPnP' option, in the 'Gaming & Application Sharing' page and clicking on 'Apply'. Then re-check the same box and click 'Apply' again. That seemed to work for me and my Xbox360.  Smiley

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Hi Jojo,
I've just replied to a similar thread in the mac forum, http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,86222.msg765550.html#msg765550
I'm getting fairly frequent invalid passwords on a macbook pro, and we've had to bounce the router for a vista laptop.
Will the fix you mention work for this and can you schedule it?

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

I have had the problem twice, separated by about a month. Today was one of those occasions, I had to turn the router back off and on because it would not accept the WPA key.

Make Toshiba
OS windows 7
and

Re: Wireless connectivity on the Thomson V8

Hi Jojo.
I'm back with Plusnet after a gap of 5 years. I've just finished my training period and modem is syncing at 1mb. I am experiencing the same as the other guys where my wireless upload is half of that of the wired speed. Here is the speed test from mybroadbandspeed.co.uk;
Today 08:59 515 kbps (64.4kB/s) 71 kbps (8.88kB/s) Wireless
Today 08:56 533 kbps (66.6kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)    Wired
I have been sent the Thomson 585v8 and using both Windows 7 and XP with same results.
