I really would appreciate some kind soul please explaining carefully to me...How I can ensure that "others" cannot read my WiFi
signals from the street/next door - when online in my own home.

The most secure is Ethernet cable and switch of WiFi in the router
After that WPA, not perfect but well nigh uncrackable
Then WEP can be cracked in seconds
And then would you believe no security, I have several near me, When I first went off off dial up, I did try out on some idiots unsecure for about a week
Some cafe's and hotels offer free WiFi and they dont have any security, but that also means that any one else near you can see what you are doing - for info Google Street view recently
