Whats up with PN?

I can't watch youtube vids anymore?
My d/l speed is 1/3 of what it used to be.
I've tried many different gateways.
Just tried Nvidia driver d/l to test speed, usually get 750ish kBs, atm its 250-300 @ 2am.
Went to many speedtest sites, all showing really poor results.
Seems my 8mb connection has turned into a 3mb connection.
Is PN having bandwidth problems or wats the score, i see a higher than normal speed problem posts.
I ain't really clued up with interwebs stuffz but there defo a problem somewhere.
Anyway thx for any help/replies.

Re: Whats up with PN?

Hi reddog,
I've had a look at your line and connection logs and can't see anything up with the profile at all. It's most likely down to the issues we're currently looking into.
Sorry for the hassle, we should have more capacity coming online later this week (that service status thread will be updated as soon as we have a date) and the maintenance work is continuing, again there'll be more updates on that as soon as we have any.

Re: Whats up with PN?

Do you have any telephone extensions?
If you do you could try plugging your router in to the test socket inside the BT master socket failing that what do your router stats look like?
Try re-booting your router to see if make any differance and check all your filters are working properly

Re: Whats up with PN?

I'm bumping this post.
Things seem to have gotten worse.
I,m now getting a faster upload speed than i am download (sometimes) at all speedtest sites.
Only 2-3 weeks ago i was maxing out my 8mb fastpath connection speed.

This is a 2am test and as you can see, its terribad.
I know there's been some issues resently but come on, its been bad for over 2 weeks now for me.
This is starting to remind me of A O L  all over again  Wink
What i've done my side.
Changed filters and leads. (no need to check test socket, master, dsl inuse only)
Checked exchange. Green status.
Tried a different router (PN Thomson)
Checked phone line for noise, including noisy line test.
Checked Routerstats app for fastpath errors and other problems.
Checked PC for spyware/viruses
Rebooted router many times over a week or so, to try different gateways.
Flushed dns.
There's not much else i can do, so now i have to wait and hope it rights itself?
I wasn't to concerned before cause latency was still ok, but now when i'm ingame and have Ventrilo running its starting to cause issues,
Vent is starting to lag out on me.
Starting to get annoying now,  i had to quit a WoW raid the other day cause Vent was so bad  Sad

Re: Whats up with PN?

Clearly from the results of the BT speedtest (reply #1) your sync speed and profile is perfect so you don't have to waste time etc on checking from the test socket !!!

Re: Whats up with PN?

My profile and everything is normal, my tracerts and pings are still really fast.
My downloads are badly crippled.
10 hours to download a 1.63gb game patch and thats after 1am in the morning.
Can't watch youtube vids without it stopping.
Can someone check this first part of ipconfig to see if its normal.
Windows IP Configuration
       Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : home-PC
       Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . :
       Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
       IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
       WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
Is this right? Cluching at straws here, i'm trying to rule out my side of things.

Re: Whats up with PN?

the main thing is what package are you on and how much paid for usage are you up to, and remove your Home ID from the above post

Re: Whats up with PN?

I'm on Unlimited package.
I only use about 20gb a month also, not that that should make any difference.

Re: Whats up with PN?

It may be worth checking your PN data rate (profile) by logging into https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate and see what it says for your current profile/line speed which should match the BT one.
Perhaps also check your exchange VP status for congestion. You should be able to use http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/ ; but as it's out of date you could try the Nildram one http://www.nildram.net/support/tools/congestion_checker/

Re: Whats up with PN?

Your telephone line is on an un-congested exchange.
Current line speed:
   7150
Its got to be something to do with the problems PN are having.
Couple of weeks ago i was d/l @ 800+ kB/s. Now i can't even get over 100kB/s and thats 1am on a Fri/Sat night.
My d/l is so slow i can't even watch short youtube vids without it hitting the buffer.  Sad

Re: Whats up with PN?

Hi,
Just had a look at your account. Your Sync and IP profiles are ok. The internal Plusnet Profile is fine. No traffic restrictions as well. The latest speed test you've done on BT speed tester shows that you are still getting very slow speed. I've email BT VP team to check the contention of the Virtual Path. Will update you as soon i get an email back. Hopefully Monday.
