What sort of download speed should I be getting?

I moved over to Plusnet (from Metronet) on 6/5/08 and my speed is still showing as 'not set' - how long does it take?  and what difference does it make....  My d/l speeds are not particularly great.

BT
IP profile for your line is - 5500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  6560 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3505 kbps
PN
Your High-speed Broadband Service
Your current broadband speed is Not Set Kbps

Re: What sort of download speed should I be getting?

I suggest you give PlusNet CSC a ring and raise this problem with them. The call waiting time at the moment shows as 4 minutes max.
You have an IP Profile of 5500kbps and have had this for several days (I assume); the value shown in High Speed Broadband Service should be identical to that. The CSC can fix that instantly but you would have to disconnect/reconnect to make use of it.
It's possible the actual speed measured in the BT test is on the low side because the network is busy.
