Quote from: LukeS ......... the target is set at 9dB so in theory it will never go below that level but it could go higher. Our options would be to reset the line, in which the target would start at 6dB and adjust depending on the quality of the line or we could place a modify order to change the target SNRM to 6dB.
and the last part of my reply #72 reminded you about available settings for any 21CN line.
Your statement
Quote from: Townman ............I now know for sure that a line having a high SNRM is not going to "improve" of it's own accord.
was just plain wrong and I considered the way I'd pointed that out by reminding you of the available settings was somewhat polite rather than just a blunt remark "you are wrong".
May I remind you what I said previously
Quote from: Anotherone An individual user's thread is often not necessarily the correct place to have a dissertation on how DLM works.
I have no intention of wasting my time further in this thread debating this petty unnecessary long winded waffle. I can spend my time doing more useful and constructive things and posting dissertations on DLM in a more appropriate thread.

"you are mistaken because..." would have been polite enough!

Quote from: Anotherone You've forgotten that there are various settings that can be applied to 21CN SNRM Targets, Standard, Stable and Superstable. IIRC only Standard would allow DLM to reduce the Target SNRM which is what the majority of 21CN lines are on.
It is also possible to 'set' the Target SNRM at one of the defined values.
was extremely polite

Hope you've had no loss of sync at any times other than possibly where the PPP disconnects are, but hopefully not even then. Would you be doing a deliberate Disconnect on Sunday lunchtimes? Otherwise, that looks very good.

Been a bit busy to reply earlier. No I have not been disconnecting on Sundays, or any other day. Line still looks to be stable, I noticed that the SNR went up from 9db to 10db yesterday but is back to 9db today. Could this be evidence of DLM activity? I notice that Thurs 14th might have had a brief power cut somewhere, but it was not obvious on clocks here.

The 9-10dB isn't DLM, the actual margin will vary depending on how much noise is about at the time. It appears to jump from 9 to 10 etc because your modem/router only reports in 1dB steps rather than fractions of a dB. Thursday night, might be BT maintenance if your sync speed didn't change. HTH.

Seems that your SNR may have jumped back up as of the test I ran a couple of moments ago and you're currently sat at 10db on the downstream. As for DLM activity, I can't see anything shifting here and it all looks solid from that perspective.

This all now looks to be my normal. I do not know who dropped the SNR to 6db. Plus.net or BT? If this continues I shall be very happy

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. All seems fine at this end; it's likely the SNR dropped to 6dB automatically due to the stability.
