Just had fibre installed with a 27 Mb sync. I rang up on another matter and the agent told me I was actually on the 40/10 product and he would change me across.
Then I got a note saying he couldn't change me across as the estimator said I could only get 15 - what about looking at the actuals folks!
Rang again and got cut off, but the agent left me a VM saying they couldn't change me across and I should be lucky as I was overachieving my expected connection.
I am beginning to think that PN are going down the line of lesser ISP when it comes to customer service and common sense.
So.......what does it take to get onto the product you are paying for?
Regards, David

If I was getting 27Mb of a 40Mb profile I thought I would at least get something out of the 80Mb profile.
At least lets try. I remember having the same debate on ADSL, ADLS2+....and I got 25% more out of that switch

Oldjim is correct, if your downstream sync is 27Mb/s then changing the limit from 40Mb/s to 80Mb/s will make no difference.
With a downstream sync of 27Mb/s it's pretty unlikely that your upstream will benefit significantly, if at all, from being limited to 20Mb/s rather than 10Mb/s either.

I also agree that a move to 80/20 for you won't make much if any difference. We can give it a try for you if you like. Just bear in mind that its a modify order we need to place that takes 1 working day to process and the same in reverse.

So what is the clip where you get a benefit from 80/20? Do you have to sync at 40Mb?

Lets give it a try on the 80/20 and I'll post the feedback for future reference.
What really annoys me is the local town has been upgraded to fibre at tax payers expenses (North Yorks) and looking at streets stats everyone seems to have been capped on the 40/10 product.
I would have expected a few more speed tests > 40Mb given the location to the cabs.

Do you pay more - I thought it was the same on the unlimited package?
Personally I would pay more for a faster connection......10 wireless devices and counting......It's just a question of priorities......we watch a lot of Ondemand TV

Yes I'm on unlimited - no way I would be able to stick to a 40GB download limit. So you pay the same whether you are on the 80/20 or 40/10 product......and if you speak to the PN people nicely they give it to you much cheaper than that.

If you sync at 40Mb/s down (or 10Mb/s up) then it's probably being limited by the 'package' then there should be a benefit in changing to the higher package (BT profile for 40Mb/s sync would be about 38Mb/s, you can see this via the BT Wholesale performance tester)
