I'm a member of an onlne forum that recently migrated to a new site. All existing users had to register, which I successfully did last week. That was the last time I was able to access the site. All weekend I was getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the website". However when I got into work this morning I found the site was up, and had been all weekend. This is a weird one.
The site domain is "tardisbuilders.com". I can do a lookup and it resolves to an IP. I can do a traceroute to it and it gets all the way. However if I put either the IP or the domain into a browser window, I get nowhere. I've tried this on two Windows PCs and one linux PC at home, on 3 browsers (Opera, IE7, Firefox 3.51) and neither of them can retreive any data from the site. But it works fine at work.
It's beginning to look to me as if port 80 traffic isn't getting through from the site to my home IP, although DNS traffic is, which leads me to wonder whether some kind of automated system at PN has flagged this traffic up as bad or malformed and therefore maybe blocking it on PN's firewall.
Incidentally I have disabled firewalls on home PCs temporarily (although the linux PC doesn't use the same firewall as the WIndows one anyone), and even restarted my router. No avail.
Can any other PN users check whether they can access http://tardisbuilders.com?
Dave

Thanks for that. The site is active (I'm looking at it now at work.) Time to log a ticket with PN methinks.

Edit: I'm not using Plusnet's DNS server - is that the difference?

It's now working for me.. I'm using OpenDNS so doubt it was a PN DNS issue.
Error was very similar to the megaupload one, broken connection or reset.

I've just tried Google's free servers - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - and the site now works. Ta for the pointers.
