Watching Sky TV online - and implications for data transfer product

I've been asked by one of referals if they can watch Sky TV online via their broadband.
I didn't know that Sky offered this - ???.
I explained the implications of the data transfer limits etc, and the probably need to upgrade.
Does anyone have any experince of this - is this Sky offer ligitimate ?
What Plusnet package is best ( ok depends on how many hours - but lets say a few hours sports a day. )

Would suppose it depends on the bit rate and how much they watch (would probably be similar to iPlayer)

You found your way around the Sky site better than I managed 
Seems an expensive way of doing it - ?
but some locations can't have satellite dishes due to planning restrictions in conservation areas

I've never used it and although I like sports such as Golf I refuse to pay money to Murdoch's empire.
I suspect this service was in the pipeline for a while and why Sky BB is quoted as unlimited as they probably funnel some of the money back into bandwidth.

I'm a cricket fanatic, and being a poor OAP (everybody say Ahh!) subscribing to Sky is not an option.
On-line also seems very expensive.
But the killer is that its "Windows" only, and I refuse to pay Gates just to go online

I'm also an OAP.....some people think it stands for 'On Another Planet'........
But seriously , folks.... I have a setup which gets me lots of Freeview and quite a few other European channels, including Eurosport and DSF etc.
I have and old dish which is pointing to the ASTRA SAT and an old NOKIA Decoder.
Suits me fine.

....I also have a TV Tuner (Pinnacle 3101X) installed which gets me everything straight to my PC...most of the time I don't need my new TFT 26"   which has a Gateway 19" Monitor and it's amazing how much better it is to watch programmes on a screen just a foot away,,,you are right there with the action.

I have 2 tuners - watch one channel and record another -  and can recommend Webscheduler, XMLTV GUI and ProgDVB as great (free) applications

I have a Wife who cant operate a remote, or the buttones on TV and Tuner,  I have a Free Sat tuner, Humax PVR _ Single tuner Terestrial, Digihome 80 twin tune Terrestrial one record one watch PVR and a switch box - (remote control) to connect to TV

It's normal streaming traffic, just like iPlayer.

and it will push them into restrictions
I daren't watch iPlayer, or Skycatchup etc
and still I go into restrictions based purely on web browsing
