Very slow speeds after phone line problems

Our phone line had severe problems over the past 2-3 days with a lot of crackling and sometimes no dial tone.  Not surprisingly our broadband connection was lost as well.  A BT engineer came round this morning to fix it and our line is now fine.  I realise that it can take a while to recover internet speeds but at the momemt I am only getting a download rate of 0.15 Mbps Embarrassed  (normally it is around 4 Mbps).
Can anything be done to speed up the recovery of our download speeds?

These are the BT Speed test results:
Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed

Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.15 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 3.75 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.54 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.54Mbps

Re: Very slow speeds after phone line problems

Hi,
A warm welcome to the forums.  PlusNet staff (CRT) will not be back on the forums until Saturday morning when there will be skeleton cover until Monday (with none on Sunday).
This line could get itself sorted out in 5 or so days... a SNRM reset on both US and DS ought to speed things up for you.  HOWEVER once done, if there are any other issues, PlusNet will not be able to run tests / make changes until the 10 day training period has expired.
CRT might pick up your request here - or you could get on the phone and ask the CSC to put a reset through.
HTH,
Kevin

Re: Very slow speeds after phone line problems

Hi there. There should be some recovery within hours actually. Check your Current Line speed (Login required). That should get updated to match the BT IP Profile. If it hasn't updated in the morning, there maybe someone from CRT around who could do a manual update for you and/or if your phone line is fine, do an SNR Reset as your Target SNRM looks like it's 12dB. Post back and let us know.
Edit: spelling!

Re: Very slow speeds after phone line problems

Your speeds increased in the early hours of this morning. If you haven't already, please drop the connection (log into your router), disconnect from the internet and re-connect and you should see new speeds.
Let any of us know if you have further problems.

Yes it's much better this morning - back up to 3.17 Mbps.  Thanks for all the help.
