Anybody experience any issues when connecting to VPN?
My other half uses the connection to work from home and when VPN is connected the line speed drops to 2mbps 😕
I'm on a 80mbps fibre connection

Hi matt8787,
I've checked your line and can't see any issues.
Is this happening at a particular time?
It might be worth setting up a <a href="http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,106312.0.html">ping graph</a> to see if we can see any issues.

Is that on the machine that has the VPN connection?
eg: You're on a machine, everything is ok. Connect VPN, then your speed-tests on that machine only show 2Mbps?
If so, it sounds like you are routing your default gateway through the VPN connection. Depending on what type of VPN it is, you will need to disable this option. If the VPN is only using the built-in Windows pptp or ipsec adapters, hunt around in the configuration for an option called "Use default gateway on remote network" and ensure it is disabled.

The speed drops when my girlfriend logs into work via VPN on her laptop.
Running a speedtest through her VPN connected browser the speed shows about 11mbps
Running a speedtest through a device that isn't connected to the the VPN (e.g. home pc, iphone), the speed drops to 2mbps.
Her connecting to VPN basically cripples my connection.

It could be that the VPN is maxing the upload speed, as there may be no room for any ACK packets which in turn slows your download down.
