Re: Usual download speed query!!

I'm glad you found the wires, if you are not using them, you can leave them in place in case you want them in the future - they'll only be good for phone, but probably a good idea to check they aren't connected to that removable lower front plate of the master socket (unless you know they aren't) - the way you said it, it's possible the engineer didn't reconnect them. If you are not sure, take off the lower front plate, the part where you plug the phone in (don't touch the vDSL plate or unplug your modem) and see if the wires are connected to the back of  the removed plate. Hopefully they will just be coiled up and tucked away at the back of the socket instead.
They certainly won't be causing your download problem, as I said your sync speed / profile is fine.

Re: Usual download speed query!!

I will check master socket on my day off. I want to remove those cables anyway, don't need them. Phone is wireless anyway. Now I am awaiting response from Plusnet team. Thanks Anotherone.

Re: Usual download speed query!!

If you post the Ticket no: one of the DCT could pick it up and check it's going through OK.

Re: Usual download speed query!!

Chris,
This is what I got tonight, what I don't understand is the max achievable has dropped since yesterday by 3mps!! also the speed is less!
The engineer did phone this morning he said he had another fault call at our house, I didn't think as of yesterday another call was needed?
Can you let me know what is happening your end as I have heard nothing, we do we go from here if they have replaced the cable from the poll to my house?? The only plus side I can see at the moment is the fact that the upload speed is up
Sorry to high jack my post Tongue
Only joking cholek3

Re: Usual download speed query!!

Have you checked to see what notes have been added to your Fault ticket Jim? You might also get an email containing the same info.

Re: Usual download speed query!!

Hi there,
I can see it's still in hand with our suppliers though the fault notes state that the engineer did replace the drop wire (from pole to your premises) as well as a lift and shift (moving your line to a different one between the cabinet and the exchange). Looks like once the profile has updated things should be fine, I hope that happens soon for you - I believe it's on course to be picked up again tomorrow to confirm if that's happened or not.
EDIT: Apologies I've been educated regarding the lift and shift, which may not actually involve a shift of lines but just an unplug/plug back in.

This is a reply I received from Plusnet support. They asked me to run BTW speedtest bypassing router (I must have forgot to tell them I already did it, ups). I also run test using speedtest@speedtest_domain username. Results below. I am worried why last test came out with nothing.

Hello,
I have done above test, just in case I repeated them as well (both bypassing router and using router).
Tests 7, 8 and 9 were performed bypassing router (computer directly connected to modem with cat5e cable). Modem was NOT reset/reboot.
Test 7 (1) results:

Test 9 (3) results:

Tests 10, 11, 12, 13 were performed using router (modem NOT reset).

Re: Usual download speed query!!

@Cholek3
I take it from the way that Adam's posted that you've already added the missing information to the ticket.
If I'm mistaken, you can update the ticket and attached the .jpg speedtest results to the ticket (rather than using the links)
@Jimsky
I assume you'll get an update soon. I think Matt may be mistaken about the Lift & Shift, that usually means a move onto another port and as it's Fibre I'd expect this to be at the cab.

Re: Usual download speed query!!

Looking good there JIm, let's hope you aren't affected by the Network problems for speed and latency!
When you're home it would be a good idea to run the BTw Performance test (ignore the red preamble except make sure no other programs are using the Internet) and at the end of the first run, click the Further Diagnostics button, enter just your Phone number and Run the Further Diagnostics Test and check your BT IP Profile  Smiley

Not generally a different port, it's usually removed from the port it's connected to and straight back in again. Smiley

Re: Usual download speed query!!

Thanks for that info, a bit pointless then really, hardly a shift. Same result could be achieved by unplugging everything from your line it seems to me Roll_eyes
So if that's what OR/Btw are calling a Lift and Shift, what are they calling it when they do actually change the port?
